Penitential Rites

Priest:   Coming together as God's family, let us pause for a while and reflect on our failures.  Let us ask our Lord to grant us His forgiveness and His loving mercy.  (Pause)

All:  I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts, in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do; through my fault, through my most grievous fault, and I ask the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin all the angels and saints, and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Priest:  Love is patient.  Love is kind.  Love is not jealous.  Love is never rude nor selfish.  Love does not seeks its own interest.  For the times we thought only ourselves.  Lord, have mercy.

All:  Lord, have mercy.

Priest:  Love delights in the truth.  For times we were not true to ourselves and our calling.  Christ, have mercy.

All:  Christ, have mercy.

Priest:  Love is always ready to forgive, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.  For the times, we gave upon ourselves and one another.  Lord, have mercy.

All:  Lord, have mercy.

Priest:  May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life.

All:  Amen.

Lord, have mercy (to be sung)

Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy, Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on us.

Priest:  Glory to God in the highest ... (to be sung)

Priest:  Let us pray.  Father, your Son, Jesus Christ elevated Matrimony to the order of grace, we now ask you to hear our prayers for LIAM and GRACE.  With complete trust in You and Your perfect plan for their lives, they commit themselves today to this sacramental union.  May they consecrate their lives to You in the sacred calling of marriage and may they faithfully and lovingly strive to full-fill the mission that You have set out for them as husband and wife.  We ask You this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.

All:  Amen.

Commentator:  Please be seated for the readings.
